This part won't get posted for a while but I'm so amused I wanted to share it now.

---

Trebol sat limply back in his chair, his hand in Diamante's. "I fucking hope so, Dia. Alright, we'll go with your plan and wait it out. What do you think the odds are that he wins over Law, really?"

"The odds?" Diamante laughed, leaning forward with a grim grin. "Snowball's chance in hell, Tre. But hey… you never know. On the Grand Line you get weirder weather than that all the time."

He rolled his eyes. "Very funny, Dia, but I get what you're saying, and you're right. There's no way of telling. Ordinarily I'd say that it's completely impossible, but…"

"But it's Doffy, right?" Diamante said with a smile."That kid can do anything."

"So indeed," Trebol sighed.

Diamante hopped to his feet, slinging his guitar across his back. "Come on, old man, let's get you to bed, or you're going to be a worse grouch than fucking usual."

"Old man," Trebol huffed indignantly, clambering his way to his feet. He let Diamante help him up. "As if you're not almost as old as I am. As if we're not both pushing fifty by this point."

"Speak for yourself, Tre, I'm a youthful 45."

"Bastard."

"You should shave the beard if you want to look younger, you know."

"The beard makes me look dignified."

"It makes you look old."

I didn't really believe it, so I ran several of our pieces of writing each through the thing. The results were 100% for David, and mostly consistent for me (I tend to vary my style a bit).

Shamefully, I haven't actually read any of Palahniuk's work.

Got out the figurative cat-o-nine-tails and sent out another round of rejection bait agent queries for the novel.

Teetering on the edge of just putting the damned thing up online, but didn't want to do so without trying at least once more for a commercial publisher.

If anyone mentions vanity- or self-publication to me in the comments I will have them dragged out and beaten.

Yeah, okay.

Fine.

Fine.

I give up.

We'll do it *your* way.

When I was in high school, and ideas for stories came faster than I could write them down, I tended to attribute the ones that came the most easily as coming from something outside of myself.

These days I no longer have the urge to attribute everything in my life to something mystical, but there's something about my newest idea that begs for that perspective.

And now I have freaky deja vu.

So, I finally got a response from the agent who sold Twilight.

It was a rejection letter.

I think that says it all.

When you're not as good as 'Twilight'.

Anyone reading this know a quick, painless way of killing yourself? Please comment.
